For the last eleven months, Link has grown accustomed to the persistent course of adrenaline that has taken shelter within his veins. From the very beginning of this new life, he has felt the weight of duty propel him to every corner of Hyrule. There was never a moment to waste; his princess battled on against an ever-growing evil that threatened to tear apart a world unfamiliar to him now.

But now that the sky no longer threatens to fracture, Link has to learn how to live without a duty. He must learn who he is, and what it means to be alive.

I'm not great at descriptions! This is more or less a post-BOTW Link character study with an eventual Paya romance.

An ongoing book that thoroughly explores the lives of Link and Zelda after the events of TotK. Picking up immediately following the events of TotK, the story begins with Link and Zelda trying to find their places in a new Hyrule, one vastly different than 100 years before the Calamity. Flashing back to fill in gaps between BotW and TotK, one will see how Link and Zelda, bound to their past duties, try to restore Hyrule to its former glory. But struggles arise: Is Zelda still worthy of being the princess of Hyrule and claiming its throne? With peace reigning throughout the land, what is a duty bound appointed knight, who has known only combat and protecting the princess, most of his life, to do when there is no evil left in the land? Is it time to move on from past duties and claim a simple life for each of them? Where do they go from here? As time progresses, Link and Zelda have feelings, which have been strong ever since the time before the Calamity, that begin to resurface. Emotions and desires began to come out. Should they control these emotions trying to blossom, and remain bound to their duties, or let them surface and bloom into something greater? Link tries to learn how to relax. But, he gets a feeling something is not right in the land. He struggles to recoup after fighting for so long but remains vigilant should evil ever return. Link struggles from becoming complacent in his new life. Join Link and Zelda on a grand adventure filled with plot twists and detailed imagery of Hyrule after the Calamity and Upheaval. Follow them as they learn more about themselves, develop a bond that leads to love, and change into the people they were destined to become. Through trials to determine their ultimate abilities, they build courage and wisdom, forming the unbreakable spirit required to defeat the ultimate evil. The past is revisited and the present is thoroughly explored, all leading to a possible future of happiness and prosperity.

Amnesia was a funny thing. It strips you of all memories, both good and bad. But what it didn't take away from Link was his caring heart. He wasn't a man who had time to deal with or worry about things like memories anyway. All he cared about was doing what was right. But just because Link had no memories, or any interest to reclaim them, didn't mean they wouldn't return to haunt him. Ever since Link woke up, strange things have been happening around the land. Horrific creatures, not quite monster and not quite human, begin appearing at night to terrorize the denizens of Hyrule. Link, not one to simply let such evils do as they please, decides to investigate into the matter as he travels across the land to find a way to destroy these creatures. It should've been just another job for him, just a problem the people needed solved, just another errand for the incarnation of Hylia's hero. But as he investigates, he is haunted by his past. Link's mind cannot remember what happened. But his heart did. He still feels what he lost, what he failed to protect, even after one hundred years. That's what draws something toward Link, the very same evil that created the creatures he faces. It follows and watches him from the shadows, taunting him, waiting for him to remember the past he's forgotten, waiting for the pain to resurface, waiting for the time he can no longer carry the weight of it all. As he journeys on his quest to defeat Ganon and save Princess Zelda, Link must learn to contend with another ancient evil that taints the land, all while facing the ghosts of his forgotten past. But how long can a disgraced hero last in the face of his failures? Cover art designed by @DaybreakVision on Twitter. Some themes may be upsetting to some readers. Viewer discretion advised.
