Merlin felt the golden light fade from his eyes as he looked to Arthur, who was standing mere meters away from him. He didn't even have to look at the King to feel the expression on his face.

No sooner had he looked to the other man; Merlin had frozen on the spot. It was as if the world had stopped at their feet and that he and Arthur were the only two people standing in it.

Hello! This is my Merlin fanfiction. Since I know I will never get over how Merlin ended, I made this in modern times to describe how Arthur comes back. I do not own any of these characters. I may write a sequel to this story in the future. This story starts out with Merlin and tells a bit about his life since Arthur died. Until one day he sees Arthur running along the path. Merlin talks with Arthur and shortly figures out that he has no idea who Merlin is. Merlin must make Arthur remember and find out why Arthur has returned while restoring the friendship that they once had.
