Chrona runs away one night, desperate to escape the home that treated him so poorly. In doing so, he unlocks a new power, jumping, which transports him to a time when he meets someone who becomes very important to him, Makka.
On top of that, he's being hunted for his new found powers, and he must escape to find a safe place for him and Makka, who can't be taken with him when he travels through time. And as they fall in love, he realizes he can't leave her behind.
