Our three stories take place in the diverse island city of Arcanjos, an island city off the coast of the state of São Paulo, Brazil, in the year 2014. People living in Sao Paulo are called Paulistas. Arcanjos is divided into three ethnic enclaves: Lagos Square, an enclave born from the Afrobrazilians who were originally slaves sold from Nigeria to the Portuguese in Brazil and got their freedom in culture and religion from their white oppressors; Little Tokyo, an enclave formed by Japanese refugees who fled to Brazil during world war 2 and fifty years before; and Lisbon Town, an enclave formed by the Portuguese colonists when they colonized Brazil in the 1500s.
Anyway, each of the stories is about three boys in interracial relationships and how they happen. The first one is about the Japanese-Brazilian girl's brother Yoshii Kato and his white girlfriend Debora Leão, Rafael's childhood friend and foster sister. The second story is about a white boy, Rafael Ramalho, in love with an afro Brazilian girl, named Ife Sowande, like a chance for redemption. And the last one is about an afro Brazilian capoeirista Sola Sowande who saved a Japanese-brazilian girl, named Aiko Kato, and got invited to her birthday, later falling in love with her.
