Katherine Pierce stepped on the gas pedal of her car, speeding right past the Welcome To Mystic Falls sign. Mikael was dead instead of Klaus and she needed to get the hell away from him before he became less distracted and started looking for her. The only thing that calmed her in this moment was knowing she saved Damon and Stefan Salvatore. If they had succeeded in killing Klaus, they would've been dead too. Stefan, who currently sat next to her, didn't seem too grateful. If anything, he was more curious about why she went through all this trouble just to save Damon's life.

Like she told him, she wasn't just trying to save Damon's life. She had been trying to save his life as well. She didn't say the next part out loud. But she would always save him. Or try to anyway. No matter how dangerous, even if it meant facing Klaus himself, she would save him. She did it in Chicago, both in the 20s and recently, and she did it tonight.

As she drove however, she was unaware of the witch who hid in the bushes just past the town line. She was unaware of the spell she cast until she felt herself blacking out and abruptly stopping the car in the middle of the road.

When she finally came to a mere five minutes later, the first words out of her mouth confused and shocked Stefan to his very core.
