After her parents are stuck in Maine from a plane accident, 16-year old Sophie Martin is all alone and stuck in the streets of New York City. Being a Canadian native (Quebec, to be precise), she has little to no knowledge about US/New York culture.
During her first night of being in the city all alone, she stumbles upon Julian Casablancas of The Strokes. Being a huge fan of their music, a giant wave of excitement crashes over her. But as much as it excites her, it worries her. When Julian invites her over to his apartment, she knows right away that her life is going to take a whole different turn.

This is set in the summer of 2003, (pre-"Room On Fire" era).

Julian finds his perfectly orchestrated comfort turned inside-out as a new student arrives, and old stories return. There is only so much the human spirit can take. A slow burning story of love, grief, and mystery that follows observant Julian through his final years at school as his relationships with those around him are tested.
