Marley Aalto's life is literally flipped upside down when an unexpected car crash kills her parents. It only seems to get worse when she finds out that her estranged Godfather and long time friend of her dad's, Emile Ramos, is appointed as her guardian as a result. The two of them had never had any substantial interactions before but now they have to suddenly learn how to become a family or risk remaining awkward strangers during her stay with him. Add onto the fact that Marley has to learn not only how to go on without her parent's guidance, but also assimilate into the suburbs, navigate through her first year of high school, and attempt to be a part of the school's marching band, things clearly are not going to be easy for her.
