Following the death of his mentally impaired sister, Lucas Blake sinks into deep depression. Each day that passes feels like an eternal emptiness until he finally decides to end his life. He runs to a hill near his house with a single tree on top, desiring to kill himself. But then he meets her. I wrote this story for a creative writing class my senior year of high school. Its tone and themes are supposed to emulate John Green in their sadness and maturity. Of course, having never read a book by John Green, I have no idea how well (or even if) I pulled this off.
