One day, after he finished a mission given to him and the other survivors by the Future Foundation, Byakuya starts feeling ill. Suddenly, he starts coughing violently and looks to see a mixture of blood and flower petals in his hands. He identifies them as Hydrangeas but is baffled by their mysterious color, black fading into green at the petal's tips. They remind him of something Makoto told him a while back...his favorite flower...his favorite colors...crap. He read up on this rare disease after Makoto mentioned it in passing but he never thought it was real. He hopes the meaning behind it will keep him alive.
"Can you imagine how beautiful a black and green Hydrangea would be, Byakuya?"
'I certainly can,' he thought as he forced a pained smile at the bloody flower petals that rested in his hands.
Will the flower's symbolism be his salvation? Or was it nothing but an empty promise?
This is a Hanahaki NaeGami fanfic where Byakuya falls in love with Makoto without even realizing it. Then one day, he starts coughing up bloody flowers that are strikingly similar to something Makoto mentioned in the past. His favorite flower, the Hydrangea, doesn't grow in his favorite colors, so he made a fictional species that does and created a meaning for it.
So of course, when Byakuya contracts this mysterious illness, he starts vomiting his love interest's own creation. He believes the sight of it is grotesquely beautiful.
All chapters (including the prologue) are over 1,000 words long.

It's Just a Cough (AsaNoya) ~completed~
Hanahaki is a disease where the affected coughs up the favorite flowers of the one they love, left untreated it can kill in a matter of weeks, you can get a surgery to remove the root, however you will forget everything about your loved one, or never feel love again. More commonly people let it kill them, but this can be avoided by confessing, however if you get rejected, the condition will progress faster and surgery will no longer be an option. The cough will start with a few petals, then progress to the entire flower head, after that a bit of blood, and finally, the entire flower with the stem and blood. If it gets to that point, you likely have days to live. The condition progresses faster or slower depending on how long the love has existed and how strong it is. Some of the warning signs for the disease are high unexplainable fevers along with harsh coughing fits and trouble breathing, these symptoms only occur for the worst cases however, so not everyone will have warning signs. "Great" Asahi sighed with his head in his hands. "Just what I needed." When Asahi gets sick and doesn't recover it's up to him and a few others to figure out what to do before it's too late, only, he has a secret he doesn't want them to know. Some say secrets can kill, but this time it's far too real. (Disclaimer!!!
