When Lucille 'Lucy' Opal Baker starts adjusting to a world without Captain America and more government therapy sessions, she is less than pleased with her precarious predicament. At least she has James, and that somehow makes everything far more bearable.
It doesn't take long for her peace to be shattered as she struggles to balance her evolving abilities, understanding cryptic messages from Nephthys, and attempting to live like a model citizen. She and James become tangled in a mess of refugees, Flag-Smashers and old enemies who become new acquaintances.
Their lives are not in complete ruins-that is, until Sam gives up the shield, allowing John Walker to emerge as the new Captain America.
With thoughts of murdering Walker traipsing back and forth across Lucy and James's minds, they must band together in order to fight a collective terrorist group led by a red-haired, seemingly harmless girl.
But terrorism doesn't seem to be the only threat looming over them, and Lucy finds herself facing HYDRA one more time.

They are broken out of the HYDRA base by someone called Bucky Barnes, or is it the Winter Soldier. It's Bucky, while he's fighting the urges of the Winter Soldier. He helps the two soldiers find their way to an American troop stationed only a few miles from the HYDRA bunker. Percy and Thomas are brought back to America, but under specific instruction by Percy, no one tells the Avengers of her being found and recovered. Instead, she takes up residence with Thomas in his childhood home. 3 years following that, Percy and Tommy are in a relationship somewhat and have mostly healed from their experiences in HYDRA.
