Sugawara was getting more fatigued by the day. His grades slowly but surely dropped, and he went from a role model that never fell asleep, and helped people with there work. To a example of what not to do. He fell asleep in class, never payed attention to the teacher, and didn't complete homework.
Volleyball was the same. He couldn't run, set, or keep up his happy aura. He started going home with bruises every day. It had never happened at practice before. What was different. His mom started to notice that her son wasn't as upbeat and joyful as usual. Then she notices the bruises. Finally she noticed the tiredness and and grade drops.
