Monroe Lovie. A seventeen-year-old boy who lives with an overprotective mother, an abusive and power-hungry stepfather, and a stepbrother who wishes to be more than brothers. Roe has lived with this twisted group of people that called themselves "family", forced to hide from the rest of the world in the most inconspicuous way possible. Sure, he still attends public school and goes out maybe once a month, but once he steps foot in the prison he calls a home, he is locked in his cell in order to hide the skeletons that are piled high within this "happy home".  The biggest skeleton of all? He is actually a she. 
When Roe's family moves into The Village of Four Seasons in the Ozarks, she runs into a group of boys that are more bizarre, yet more caring than the people she is forced to call family. She wants to know the feeling of friendship, the feeling of youth, the feeling of love, and she thinks that these boys can give that to her. But is she willing to sacrifice herself to the wrath of her reality in order to know this group of people, so different from what she knows? And what will happen if they find out the truth?

The world looks like ours to the general public, but hidden in the shadows are horrifying creatures and the extraordinary humans who hunt them. Selene does not look anything like her parents and her eyes are uncanny- leaving her parents unsettled. Especially since they never wanted a child anyway. As she grows, she asks about things no one else can see or feel - which only makes things worse. The world is much too dangerous for Selene- no one will understand and will only try to hurt her. She is hidden away in her parents' large and lonely house- for her own good of course. Her life changes forever though one late afternoon when she finds that her wooded backyard is no longer the sanctuary she has always counted on. She learns that the world is a terrifying place, but not for the reasons her mother has always given her.- But more importantly, 5 young men will show her that she truly is a treasure - one that they have been desperately searching for. I have rated this a mature because I am not sure exactly where this story will go...
