The last day of Roo's childhood was sunny. She couldn't remember quite which planet they were on- they were rarely in one place for more than a week- but she remembered the festival, the music, and the ribbons that had been tied on the ends of each of her twelve braids.
Hondo had been on that planet for some sort of deal- she couldn't recall what that was either, but she remembered the planetary bombardment, and the screams, and the smell of burning flesh.
That was the day she decided the Empire needed to die.
