The isle of the lost was a dark place. This was common knowledge, however, no one really considered how dark of a place it was. Sure, Mal, Evie, Carlos and Jay left. Could you blame them? And Uma grew angry, jealous and hateful. You would too if you were cursed with the label of 'villain' without it being your fault. I was Mal's sister, I was left behind and I sided with Uma because if there is one thing the isle taught me - on an island of viscous people, the most dangerous thing was to be alone.
