She has gone to Redlands High school all her life, she knows who to hang with and not to, she knows that when certain people like Levi Akerman and his group of friends enter a room you look away, So when Jake takes a vacation for unknown reasons and comes back everyone is shocked, not because of his return but because of  Nimue's stupidity and her looking at Levi.
