The word "Mate" always left a bitter sweet tang in Katie Allen's mouth. As a werewolf, it should have spread a delightful excitement throughout her entire being and yet it didn't. Unlike the rest of her community, Katie had her feet on the ground and her head out of the clouds. She wanted no part in the likes of a mate, not when her 'boyfriend', Blake's, heart was beating gently in her hand.

Why give up someone she chooses to love for one she doesn't want? Makes no sense... right?
