Lance has never had what could be called a conventional upbringing. Raised by the Parella of the Great Bay, he spent half his life in an aquatic world of secrecy and wonder. When one of his companions is caught by a fishing boat and hauled onto land, Lance is the only one who can rescue her. The pursuit will bring him into the fold of a war that has been raging on the surface for hundreds of years, and give him the chance to be reunited with the only living member of his true family.
