Note: This story is set in a world I call "Altera": an alternate 19th Century Earth, with nations and events that are similar enough to our world to be familiar, yet different enough to be new. Altera occasionally veers into steampunk territory, as technology is about 15 years ahead of our timeline.

The Life of Zane Cooper
Governments throughout the world have collapsed and merged into one governmental entity. War broke out, which lead to a massive nuclear explosion that annihilated half of the earth's human population, including an unknown deadly virus. In order for people to survive, they fled underground, leaving behind an abundance of advanced technology and robots that they had created. As years passed, human survivors finally re-emerged from living underground to discover another world of a robotic society, which they called themselves, Mega. There is an Army of 100 million robotic soldiers being led by an evil tyrant called, General Grant trying to extinguish the human race. The last remaining human survivors started independent nations and built underground tunnels expanding underwater, linking other underground nations for support. Stainburrow (Prologue)
Steampunk city with a type of regime, fantasy elements and vampires (a lot more like Alucard from Hellsing then this teen drama bullshiet) guy gets pushed into a rebellion by a pupet master like entity. Plus there is a horrific enemy with lots of gore which was inspired by monsters from deadspace. Look i am awful at powerphrasing. just read a couple of chapters (and excuse how bad the first one is, ill have to rewrite that one ;-;) and see if you like it. This now serves as a prologue to my current much larger book (Stainburrow) but it is very separate from it. It also requires a complete re-write. Should information in this conflict with something in that book than Stainburrow should be considered cannon rather than the prologue.Complete

Due to Y/N's service history, he was allowed into the vault during the nuclear warhead exchange between America and China, and that's where our story starts. (Currently being rewritten under a new name The Claimed) Everything changed when they came out of hiding, terror spread across the world as people began to question if our presidents and our global leaders lied to us and weren't from the same race. The Beasts blended in amongst us as if we were the same, except humans didn't have the same predatory instincts and we couldn't change our forms like they could. Soon after we learnt that we weren't the only species people began going missing. Some were unlucky and taken as something that the Beasts called a Mate that one word made fear spread throughout my veins, I would rather sell my soul than have one of them mutts chain me to them. Six months went by before the government, that was un-tainted by this vile race began to take action into their own hands contacting other countries and militaries causing the great war to happen, sending both my parents off to fight for our rights. Only one of them came back, two months was the longest we lasted before we were overpowered by them. Six years of living in this dysfunctional environment and my hatred had never dwindled. Some people still believed in god and had faith in him, I didn't know what I believed in but I prayed like everyone else that I would get through another day without hearing the soul crushing word 'Mate'.
