Then they would pause to think and say something along the lines of, "Oh yeah, I think I've heard of him before. The other Potter. The one with the green eyes right?" Then a few days later, somehow, everyone would find a way to forget him again. That was, until the 'other' boy who lived arrived at Hogwarts, shocking the world when he became the newest member of Slytherin.
