The Sapphire Pass: All-Father
In a world where people have lost their will to live, a war rages between the present and the future. One side fights to enslave the world and keep it under his absolute control, the other fights to restore and liberate the world while also finding a new place to survive. As part of the Beta Team, Ophelia was used to going into that future and bringing back the things that kept the ruler of the world empowered. What she didn't know was why, and she didn't care. What would you do if, after getting drunk in a party and passing out somewhere you don't remember, you woke up in a cart that is pulled by a horse with two people speaking weird language and wearing white sheets over their bodies? You panic, obviously. Era never believed in Gods and magic. Why? Because it wasn't explained by scientists. She doesn't even change her view when she is thrown down the time hole and back to the ancient Greece -time when people believed in everything, especially Gods of the Olympus. But her talk of "Gods don't exist" lands her into a festival of the Gods - a festival where people marked by one of the Gods of the Olympus fight for their life by performing something sociated with the god that they represent. And she is supposed to survive when she is marked by the God of the Underworld himself. Tales of Disturbance
A young teenage girl, haunted by the memories of her father's execution, attempts to escape a cruel regime by night. A solitary woman, abandoned by her husband, inadvertently plays into the cruel hands of 'the state'. In another totalitarian regime a traffic light fixer is dealt with brutally for admiring a sunset. All these characters capture the essence of what it's like to be disempowered and cruelly dehumanised at the hands of a heinous, corrupt power. This sharp collection of pertinent short stories throws an at times uncomfortable light on cruelty, injustice and persecution that is all too relevant today. But ultimately these stories celebrate the strength and determination to survive at all costs, that exists within all of us.

Thirteen Points of Light
After a night on the town, Sarah wakes up to a miserable hangover. But it's nothing compared to what comes next. After attempting to light a cigarette, she feels that something isn't quite right. Soon she'll discover that everything is very wrong. My entry in the Open Novella Contest III, Feb 2020. April 28. Just got the news that Thirteen Points has made it through the second round. Now I have to finish by May 5th. I'm not as far along as I had hoped at this point, but I'm sure I can make it. May 4th. 12:10 am. Finished. Submitted. Good night. May 20th. Well, 13 Points made the Long List. I have no idea how many original entries there were but about 940 made the first cut. There's 150 on the Long List. Not bad for my first time out. Now we'll wait and see how we fare on the Short List. May 30th. Well, Sarah and company didn't make the Short List. I can't say I'm disappointed though.
