Merlin always believe in destiny; he believe that Arthur is meant to be the Once and future king.  He vowed to always be by Arthur's side. However the same doesn't go for Arthur, when he left Merlin alone in this cruel world. 
Merlin will wait. He will wait for his king to rise again. He need to be strong for Arthur.
But for how long?
