After getting back the President's daughter, Hunnigan didn't waste time to put Ren in another mission. Ren took the opportunity instead of explaining the situation about why he was there in Spain to Leon. Hunnigan didn't want him to know about it even the President didn't want him to know.
Years past without one of them making contact with eachother, it was as if Ren disappeared of the face of the Earth. Leon had many emotions on why Ren just disappeared but he didn't get an answer.
