Hindi alam ni Claw ang mga kababalaghang nangyayari sa bayang pinaniniwalaang pinupugaran raw ng mga mangkukulam.
Ayon sa sabi-sabi ay isinumpa ang bayan na ito matapos mamatay ang anak ng isang mangkukulam noon pang panahon ng ikalawang pandaigdigang digmaan.
Matapos ang mahabang panahon ay sunod-sunod na kamalasan na ang inabot ng mga residente roon kaya mas minabuti na lamang ng mga ito na lumikas at magpakalayo layo na.
Noong namatay ang mga magulang ni Claw ay dito siya pinadala.
Noong una akala niya isa lamang itong ordinaryong bayan na malayo sa mataong lungsod. Subalit nagkamali siya.
Hindi kailanman magiging normal ang takbo ng kanyang buhay sa isang bayang tago at pinaliligiran ng mga nagkakapalang puno. Halos hindi mo akalain na isa pala itong bayan.
Lahat ng ito ay hindi pinansin ni Claw. Iniisip niya na kailangan niyang sundin ang habilin sa kanya ng kanyang mga magulang noong nabubuhay pa ang mga ito. Ang pamahalaan ang kanilang antigong tahanan at nasasakop na mga lupain.
Pero sa pagdaan ng mga araw, habang dumadami ang kakaibang bagay na napapansin niya, hindi niya maiwasan na magtaka.
Ano ang meron sa mga taong naroon at iniisip nilang isinumpa ang bayan ng Hungerwoods? Ano nga ba talaga ang lugar na ito?
Kailangan niyang masagot ang lahat ng tanong na ito bago mahuli ang lahat. Because after all, she may not know she's one of them.
