Bella Thompson is forced to confront a terrifying reality when 12 minutes of her memory disappear after she went to retrieve a file from her friend, Dina Flores's, house one evening. Bella realizes she was forced to defend herself against Dina, who was infected with a violent virus, causing madness and aggression.
Police initially suspect Bella, but she later exposes the existence of a secret organization called "Contingency Epsilon." This organization is not seeking a cure; it is running an extermination program to control the infection.
Bella and Dina's boyfriend, Liam, tracks Epsilon to the Gemini Yards Warehouse. They find Epsilon preparing to administer a lethal injection to Dina. Bella successfully foils the infusion, but is forced to flee with Liam.
Now, Bella and Liam are fugitives hunted by Epsilon, armed only with the crucial truth that this threat is not just a medical virus, but an evolutionary/predatory threat.
