Rumor has it that the clan was eliminated by a mysteriously strong creature, a creature that originated from the dark continent.
All members were brutally wiped out by a single creature, not even the strongest Akayami member withstood the wrath of the evil being.
That person being: Miyuki Akayami, was able to seal the creature in a tomb far away where no one can unleash it and shortly died due to damage the creature had caused her.
Before dying, she sent her one week old baby to her most trusted friend who is a member of a famous family of assassins called the Zoldycks.
The Zoldyck family took care of the last remaining and living member of the Akayami clan by Miyuki's last request, the baby is then named Rushiru and spent half of her life training with the Zoldycks but is sent to the head chairman of the Hunter association named Isaac Netero to teach her nen.
After training for six years with the chairman, Rushiru decided to take the Hunter Exam and become a hunter herself, to protect people from the creatures who slaughtered her clan.
