Softail has lived her whole life protected and provided luxuriously for by her pack. She had her place in her pack and so did everyone else. But as a Softail's fourth light-year rolls around, things start to change. A shortage of food and rising suspense of a invisible pack forces the pack to leave their home territory, the place Softail has called home all her life. The pack is thrown into a test of survival and loyalty as they journey through the rough terrain of a uninhabited island. Softail, along with some help from her pack, if forced to learn life's lessons of survival, life, death, love, and betrayal.

"Shift." His voice hit me like a serrated blade as he stepped out of the crude semicircle of hardened wolves that had formed around me. I pushed myself off of the cold floor for what felt like the thousandth time that day, wiping the small trail of blood coming off of my lip and down my chin. "I won't ask you again."
