Grace Whitehead, code name Hélène, has a 5 million-franc price on her head, but that doesn't stop her commitment to SOE, Special Operations Executive. On D-Day, she parachutes into Normandy along with the leader of French Resistance and their radioman, to deliver intelligence to the Airborne. By twenty-one, she crosses paths with Easy Company; a group of paratroopers who will change the course of her life forever. Born a carefree child, Lia is now a hardened soldier, her past marked by unthinkable loss and violence. The things she's seen, the things she's done, have carved a cold, unfeeling exterior. But beneath that armor, the ghosts of her past still whisper, threatening to consume her. Thrown into the chaotic, rowdy world of Easy Company, Lia finds herself clashing with men who are as broken as she is. But in their camaraderie, in the bonds they form through blood and war, Lia starts to believe something she's long abandoned: that she can be more than the soldier she's become. Sitting Ducks
Everyone has a different view on life. For example, when you see someone dead, you never say they deserved it. Even if you hate their guts there are always tears on your behalf. That makes you weak. When I see a dead person, I'm either patting myself on the back saying good job, or thinking good riddance. That person was probably a criminal, or some dirtbag that was on a list. If you're a target, you're on one too. Elise is a murderer simple as that. She’s killed, many people, and by the time you know about her, you’re six feet under. When a corporation aimed at the justice of criminals comes after her, she has no choice but to flee. Elise has always been one to fight, but not anymore. Running around in circles, Elise trusts the wrong and right people, and turns herself into something she can't afford to be. A sitting duck. Cover by JaneSilver16Complete

A Soldier of No Importance [ WWII / Band of Brothers ] 1
Included on Wattpad's HistoricalFiction World Wars reading list. - * - * - * - Being in the French Resistance wasn't what Alice Klein envisioned her life looking like. She'd wanted a husband and a flat in Paris, and maybe a cat with a pink bow who would sleep on her piano. But bullets didn't discriminate between male or female, young or old. Alice knew that better than most. As a half-German, half-French Jew, it seemed no matter where she went, she was hated. To the German army or Vichy France, she was a traitor. To any uneducated Allied soldier, her last name screamed Nazi. When the Maquis heard of the Allies looking for connections to the French Resistance, they'd quickly offered up Alice as a multilingual translator and Underground liaison. Whisked away from the French Alps, she arrived to the States to train as a paratrooper, knowing that failure was not an option no matter how much she disliked it. Lucky for her, she didn't just find barracks and training grounds in America. She found men, and in them, family to replace the one she'd lost. - * - WARNINGS for realistic depictions of world war ii, strong language, era-typical sexism, era-typical anti-semitism, alcohol abuse, cigarette abuse, past sexual assault - * - * - * - Pairing: mostly gen, way down the line it's eventual Lewis Nixon/OC BOOK ONE in [ A Tale of Two Heritages ] Start Date: December 5, 2019 End Date: March 24, 2020 Final Word Count: 150,786 Cross-posted to FFN and Ao3 - * - * - * - #1 in World War Two, #1 in Band of Brothers, #1 in Feminist, #1 in 1940s, #1 in Lewis Nixon FIRST PLACE: Cherry Blossom Awards 2020, Writer's Glory Awards 2020 THIRD PLACE: Historical Fiction in Spice Off Award, Fanfiction in Majestic Inc.
