Peter Kirkland is constantly bullied; for his looks and his personality. For a high school student, he's short, middle-school short. The bigger kids at Gakuen High are always pointing this out to him, making him feel insecure about his height. They even make fun of the way he stands up for the place he was born in, claiming it would become an independent nation soon enough.
Even his older brother makes fun of him, which brings him down even more. His brother makes fun of him at school, not caring that he hurts his feelings, while at home he denies his existance.
Peter's parents are constantly out of the house, so they are unreliable and seemingly could care less about their children.
One day after school on his way home, he notices a girl in a field of flowers near a house. He doesn't think much of it, just turning away and going home. However, he sees her there every day. He starts questioning things about her, wondering what she's doing there and who she is. So when he plans on talking to her for the first time, just what will he find out?
[Brought over from old account.]
"You're different from what I expected," she said softly.
"How so?" he asked, glancing at her.
"I don't know," she replied, searching for the right words. "You just... have this way of making people feel like they matter. Even here, in this... nightmare."
He was quiet for a moment before responding. "You matter, Y/n. Don't forget that."
