It's been almost a week since Gordon received the final message from Coomer. The idea of being able to extract his friends from the game was an insane Idea but it was so insane that Gordon was willing to try it. He didn't want the science team to suffer in darkness alone when he had bonded with them on such a personal level and besides, he owed them a better home then the polygon world they were so used to. Nothing bad could happen by bringing AI into the real world right?

Year 3071. Exoplanet Steel-1, the only planet in the system along with it's moon, was once a site for mass drone production factory called "Chimera's Dawn" by the JC Jenson company, later modified into a secret research facility, renamed to "Chimera's Fall", to investigate what caused the destruction of Earth and reason behind drones turning against humanity. Few years after the events on the Earth, something known as "The Absolute Solver" created a deadly energy shockwave on Steel-1, resulted in planet's decaying state, annihilated all humans, destroyed most of the machinery, and deactivated or damaged most of the drones on the planet. The surviving worker drones have established a survival base in an abandoned Communications and Surveillance Center called the "Steel Eye". Citizens of Cores no longer age once they upload their minds into the virtual living system of the Core. While they didn't age, most still choose to cycle through life and death though at a different scale of time compared to our lives. Citizens can visit other planets and live there as if they were on a "vacation". Mercury is Earth's hub connected to the closest Core and Earth is a remote vacation spot for wealthy citizens. When the main character was 10 he witnessed a citizen returning to the Core. The story continues 10 odd years later when he again witnesses a similar situation unfolding and manages to touch the person returning to the Core. This causes him to be swept up in the transfer as well and for his mind to join as a "Guest" user of the Core. As a Guest he has limited powers, a starting balance of zero cr or Citizen credits, and no idea how he can get home. He is the first human to ever become a Guest of a Core. Where money itself is the highest form of their science.

But as the man in the rabbit suit killed the people chasing the women, that had not gone unnoticed by one of the girls as she thanked him from a distance. But it wouldn't be the only encounter, as things grow more dangerous with the coming winter. And he becomes intrigued by her, given the fact she has a strong will to survive, no hesitation in defending herself and has zero care that this person in the suit seemed to be more dead than alive. Something her friend points out multiple times. But this connection becomes a danger in itself. As this man is no stranger to death and danger, but nor is he a stranger to wanting to keep things for himself. Especially after losing everything he's had, he will not lose her either. Especially when the sins of his past follow him. And discover his new interest in this woman to the point where they will cause harm to her to continue the torment and pain of one William Afton.
