As the eldest son, Tanjiro Kamado had a sworn duty. He vowed to his late father that he'd take care of his mom and younger siblings. So he did just that, doing the best he could to keep them happy and out of harm's way.
Like any other day, he went to go sell coal in the town resting at the mountain's foot. This would be the day his promise would save him from his family's fate.
Their massacre.
But promises weren't enough to spare him from the journey he and his traumatized sister are forced to go on.
Because now they're the same as the murderers.
Hiding. Waiting. Hunting. Slaying.
After-all, every myth is based on an alternate reality.

Sakura Hirai is a 20 year old girl who lives down the mountain from the Kamado family where she has looked after their children for years after the Father of the Kamado family, Tanjuro fell ill. Sakura's responsibilities consisted of looking after the younger children and helping the older children, Tanjiro and Nezuko descend the mountain day after day to go work in the village. As the village's doctor, Sakura was always busy and is very skilled in care. After a fateful night where Sakura and Tanjiro didn't return to the family's cabin, Tanjiro, the eldest son of the Kamado family, comes home to find his entire family slaughtered. Tanjiro, in a complete panic checks on the oldest sister first, Nezuko, who is still warm and rushes her down the mountain to see Sakura who seems calm about the whole situation. After checking Nezuko's injuries, the three return to the household where Sakura and Tanjiro bury the family's corpses before heading off. But Nezuko is not herself anymore as she starts to turn into a bloodthirsty rampaging demon on the back of her loving brother and threatens to attack, Sakura turns to the only thing she knows best, protecting those she holds close.Complete

It was unfortunate when Tanjiro twisted his ankle but Nezuko was all too willing to take the charcoal to town in his place. She returns home to a blood-covered scene that makes no sense. She reunites with her brother who is no longer human and shares only a few words before disappearing: "Hide... he'll find you!" Nezuko, wearing her beloved brother's hanafuda earrings, vows to become a demon slayer and find her brother and save him from the monster known as Muzan. How will the course of events change? Now Tanjiro sets himself on a quest to become a Demon Slayer in order to restore the girl's humanity. Over the course of his journey he suffers constant hardship, intolerance, failure, defeat, and loss. However along the way he gains a new purpose in life and meets people who matter to him. Especially a quiet girl with a butterfly hair pin. The boy also gets involved with the politics of the world and learns the history of a lost empire that holds the keys towards destroying the demon king once and for all.
