Corinne "Sylvie" Perez is the most popular girl in school who seems to have it all. She has a loving boyfriend, a caring and supportive family, and three best friends. She treats most of her subjects with respect and love, and only looks down on those who deserve it. Unlike most popular girls in movies and books, everybody loves her. So when Sylvie's secret is revealed and her once-perfect reputation is tarnished, she doesn't understand why.
The only thing Sylvie can do is stand by and watch as the perfect life she put so much energy into curating crumbles down around her. When it all becomes too much for her, the only thing she feels she can do is run away, needing an escape from the stress and anxiety that comes from just being who she is. It's at a waffle house in Sin City where she first meets the members of Palaye Royale, an obscure emo band she's never heard of before. The band members take her under their wing and give her more love and attention than anyone else ever has, but Sylvie knows in the back of her mind that she can't stay here forever.
Now that Sylvie is out of the way, her former best friend Gianina Hererra knows that this is her one and only opportunity to take over the school the way she has been dreaming of doing for years, ever since she became friends with Sylvie. In her opinion, the school needs some serious work in order to restore it to its former glory, but Gianina knows that the only way she can continue her success is if Sylvie stays gone. If Sylvie returns, all her progress will be lost, and if there's one thing Gia knows how to do, it's to make sure that people she wants gone stay away and leave her alone.
"You're different from what I expected," she said softly.
"How so?" he asked, glancing at her.
"I don't know," she replied, searching for the right words. "You just... have this way of making people feel like they matter. Even here, in this... nightmare."
He was quiet for a moment before responding. "You matter, Y/n. Don't forget that."

Y/n wakes up in the deadly Squid Game, surrounded by strangers and fighting to survive. What she doesn't know is that the mysterious Frontman is watching her every move through the cameras- and she's caught his attention.
