Pagod na pagod si Maxine ng matapos niyang mag-ensayo, sinasanay siya upang maging isang 'Hit Man' ng isang matinik, malakas at makapangyarihang sindikato. Labag sa loob niya ang pagiging miyembro ng nasabing sindikato, masama rin ang loob niya sa kanyang ama na siyang dahilan kung bakit siya napasama sa nasabing sindikato dahil ginawa siyang pambayad ng kanyang ama sa mga sindikatong ito dahil sa laki ng pagkakautang nito sa grupo. Matapos siyang ibigay ng kaniyang ama ay iniwan siya nito at di na nagpakita pa.
Pagkatapos ng kaniyang ensayo ay dumeretso na siya sa café kung saan siya nagta-trabaho. Dahil mag-isa na lang siya sa buhay ay kailangan niyang kumayod para sa sarili niya kaya kahit pagod ay pinipilit niyang pagsabayin ang pag-aaral, pag-eensayo at pag-ta-trabaho. Habang binabagtas ang daan patungo sa café ay may nahagip ang mata niya, sa di malamang dahilan ay nabuhay ang kaba sa kaniyang dibdib. Kakaiba ang pakiramdam na iyon, hindi niya naramdaman iyon noon pa man.
Hindi niya maalis ang tingin sa lalaking pumukaw ng kaniyang atensiyon. Nang araw na iyon ay hindi niya malimot ang itsura ng lalaking nakita niya, at sa tuwing naaalala na iyon ay di maawat ang kaniyang kaba. Pilit niya iyong nilimot at itinuon ang atensyon sa mahahalagang bagay. Ngunit di rin nagtagal ay nagkita sila nitong muli, sa pagkakataong iyon ay ayaw na niyang matapos ang araw na iyon at gustong paka-titigan ang mukha ng lalaking iyon dahil sa labis na paghanga. Ngunit ayaw niyang magkaroon pa ng dagdag na alalahanin kaya't pilit niyang pinalis ang nararamdaman. Ayaw niya ng dagdag na problema, ayaw niya ring madamay pa ito sa sakaling magkaroon sila ng koneksiyon dahil alam niyang masasaktan at madadamay lang ito sa buhay na mayroon siya.
