As Mabel is possessed by Bill Cipher, Dipper struggles to find out the patterns that follow. He finds out one night that Grunkle Stan has the last 2 journals. While flipping through pages, Dipper finds a page with Bill on it. The ring of symbols.
Soon enough Dipper finds out who matches to each symbol. Bill faces the odds, he'll be defeated by the Five. These Five control power that even Bill can't conjure.
