"Opposites are not always contradictions, they can be complementary." - Steven Redhead, Life is a Cocktail

In times of crisis, it is often thought that simply separating the aggravating party can be a solution to any kind of problem. That was the thought when the villains of Auradon, plague to royals and villagers alike, were exiled to their own island off the coast; The Isle of the Lost. Things were calm, things were civilized, and Auradon prospered.

That is, until the young prince started getting ideas in his head of ending the separation. As prince Adrien approaches his coronation, his first proclamation is to offer a chance at redemption to those who never had a chance at a life off the island. Those chosen were the children of Gaston, The Queen of Hearts, Captain Hook, and Hades himself. Adrien thinks he's doing the right thing, but others think this will only lead to the destruction of all they had built.

Marinette had never dreamed of leaving the Isle of the Lost. Her life was filled with running rampant through the crowded streets with her friends, causing mayhem and spray painting whatever free wall was available. But when a chance at escape comes, her father doesn't let her turn it down. This was their chance at breaking the barrier, of once again ruling Auradon with a tight fist through the fear and power they once held. It was Marinette's job to ensure that ultimately happened. But in the end, can she bring herself to see it all through?

The times when magic was commonplace had been long forgotten. And even if rumours of the supernatural do surface from time to time, Marinette isn't one to believe controversies, even if her own life has a few rather peculiar aspects to it. Adrien, on the other hand, is the controversy itself, powerful enough to destroy everything in his way if he chooses to do so. The only thing he wishes for, though, is for the soulmate he meets every night in his dreams to remember him upon waking up... something that might just come true after a rather unexpected visitor and an absurd demand from his father force Adrien to leave the life he knew behind in hopes of finding the one person that can help him regain control of his life. *** Thank you for taking interest in this story. I'm very happy to finally be able to share it with all of you, and I hope you'll enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Before we start, I'd like to thank @ladyofthenoodle, @misscongenialityofmlb, and @mostlovedgirl for beta reading. Thank you, guys! This story wouldn't be the same without you, and I greatly appreciate not only your help with grammar but the support and motivation you've given me over the last few months. Note that this story is rated M because, like in every good story, there is a final, epic battle that will contain certain aspects that might be upsetting to some, such as blood, bodily harm, and similar. I tried to keep the description as non-graphic as possible, but all the chapters containing such matters will contain a warning at the start of the chapter. You're welcome to skim over it or skip it. This, however, relates to only about 5-10% of the story and will take place closer to the end. Happy reading and I hope to hear your thoughts in the comment section or on any of my social media.
To Lovingly Hate You by StaticBrooke

Princess Adeline was comfortable in her high-class royal life, and even more comfortable when she was causing mischief within it. Adeline had the most fun when she was doing something she wasn't supposed to, and the best part was, no one could stop her. Being the eldest daughter of Queen Ariel and Prince Eric meant she had an excellent advantage. Being half mermaid and half human meant a whole lot when she wanted to get her way. Using her abilities to her greatest advantage, Adeline believed no one could knock her off her preferred course. That was until... he came along. With Adeline's stunts growing more dangerous as merfolk disappearances rose, Queen Ariel and King Eric had to do something to finally keep her in line for good. Seeing as rules weren't always taken seriously and her abilities made it nearly impossible to keep her in line, they needed something they hadn't tried before. Luckily for them, months prior, King Ben began implementing a new system to help those on the Isle make it to Auradon ethically, and just as they needed someone like him, he was ready. After devoting his life to working towards making it to Auradon, the son of the infamous Captain Hook himself was given the position of a lifetime. The position of Princess Adeline's personal guard, to keep her in check, keep her where she's supposed to be, and keep her out of harm's way no matter the consequence. Harry Hook needed the job and took it very seriously, but Princess Adeline wanted nothing more than for him to leave her alone. With an unknown danger lurking just underneath the waters and tempers running high, would they be able to find common ground in time? Or would they become each other's worst enemies? A/N Hiya! C O M P L E T E D ✕♛✕♕✕ "What about the promise we made when we were kids, Mari," He smiled. I felt shocked he remembered my nickname. That smile.. A sudden wave of realisation washed over me, taking my wrist back. "That promise died on the day you told me you never wanted to see me again, Adrien" I spat his name out like a disease. I stormed out slamming the door, "Our friendship died on the day you told me you never wanted to see me again." I muttered ✕♛✕♕✕ Adrien and Marinette have been friends since they were kids, well used to be. It changed when Adrien lost his mother, blocking everyone out and getting involved with the wrong people. Soon taking his anger out on Marinette, let's say it didn't end well and she now hates him because of that. He was soon your typical player, he gets laid and the others get played as they say. Making out in the Halls, soon followed by who knows what in the janitors closet. Marinette simply hated him, not only for hurting her in the past, but just playing with peoples heart like a toy from his parents. She wasn't exactly a so called nerd, but more what people call her a Princess. Not because she's a picky person but more of because she has a heart of gold, willing to help everyone, everyone BUT Adrien. Both hated each other, probably the one thing they have in common. It changed when they were assigned dorms, lucky for Marinette she got the one and only Player of the entire school. Will the two finally find out the reason behind each other's actions? Or will they forever be at each other's throats? This is the story of the Player and The Princess ✕♛✕♕✕ Edit: AND YES I AM EXTREMELY AWARE THAT THERE IS ANOTHER BOOK WITH THE SAME TITLE etgshhs I didn't realise this until now I feel like I copied someone I SWEAR I DIDNT I MADE THIS ENTIRE PLOT MYSELF Ranks: (In Fanfiction) #443 #634? #743 #800 Tags: mlb - #6 (thank you so much??) adrienette - #3 (omg) Started:10/01/18 Ended:12/06/18

If you do not like that please skip this story, or want to read without it, put it into a reading list of some sort and check in later. Again, I apologise that this is not fully edited, but if you do not mind it go ahead and give it a shot! Marinette knows she is a princess to China. Her parents are the King and Queen of course, and have been ruling China keeping their identities secret so it's easier of off their family. Though learning that her coranation is coming Marinette had to move to China.... On the same day, Mrs. Bustier had told everyone they were going for the trip to go the princess's coranation, accompanied by her class. But throughout the trip, Adrien has dreams that get him scared. Dreams that can tell him if his mother is alive or not. Do you think she will be found? Or Gabriel Agreste get caught at gis doings? Let's see how everything turns out, shall we? . . . . . . "Adrien! Come inside honey it's pouring outside! Your gonna get sick! You remember what happened last time?" Mom said. "Yes mommy, but I like pwaying in the rain!" Three-Year-Old answers. "Adrien. No, ok? We can go to the pool after it stops alright? You might get severely sick if you play in the rain dear." She says again. "Ok, mommy." I say pouting. "Don't use that look with me," Mom says while picking me up. I giggle while she dries me off and changes me. *world swirls into a meadow* "Mom!" I shout as I see her a few feet ahead of me. She quickly hugs me and stays there. "Mom..."
