Girl on Fire (Avatar/Hunger Games Crossover)

Katniss Everdeen is a firebender thrown into the Hunger Games when she volunteered for her sister. Now she has to survive through 23 other benders and nonbenders from the other districts to make it back home. That seems a simple task once Katniss is actually in the games, because she's discovering that she's more than your average firebender, she could be the Avatar the world has been looking for.
Hi reading people, this crossover was formulated through a discussion with friends, both online and during trips to get ice cream, but here's the general idea: we wanted a Hunger Games story, with the original characters, but with the Avatar The Last Airbender bending. This doesn't contain characters from Atla but we tried to imagine the Hunger Games world, but with an avatar spin. Suggestions and ideas are always welcome, PLEASE correct spelling and grammar issues you find, and if you decide you don't like it after the first chapter no judgements here. I literally don't own any of this except the concept of a crossover, all characters, places, and bending comes from the original sources.

Kiyan never expected to be the Avatar. And now that she is, she's finding she never even wanted to be. After all, she's safe there, and she never asked for this whole Avatar deal anyway. Unfortunately, fate has other plans, and her masterful strategy for avoiding danger is thrown into chaos with the arrival of a familiar scarred swordsman. ***CURRENTLY UNDER EDITING*** Broken, filled with loss, pain, and anger of her people's death... she could only hope she had died with them. An Air Bender from the Western Air Temple never having the chance to find balance within. She never knew how she managed to survive all these years, hiding from the Fire Nation but she still remained a nineteen-year-old girl. Fire Lord Ozai discovered her Air Nomad origins and he imprisoned her for three years. She got to meet the royal family before it was broken. When she managed to escape she ran away to the Water Tribes. She had been there ever since, protecting the defenseless people from the ruthless Fire benders as well as her bending. A new Air Bender appears, and it didn't take long when a Fire Navy ship arrived the deserted icy lands of the South. She will once again become the Fire Nation's prisoner but this time, in Prince Zuko's ship and things will never get back to normal. ~~~~~ I do not own the Avatar: The Last Airbender I only own the new character and some changes in the plot. The story is set during the time period of "The Hunger Games" (book one of the trilogy). It is written from the perspective of Gale Hawthorne, and does not concern any events in books two and three.
