One thousand years ago, the Empikah walked the desert along with their Vannakai people. Or at least, that's what Nomen has been told. So when a messenger appears in the midst of the Vannakai Tribe, claiming to be sent from the Empikah, Nomen knows that the newcomer's presence is the beginning of something life-changing.
