If you are wondering how the events in this book came to be, I suggest giving his book "Wind Fighters" a read. It is the prequel to this book, but I will try to write in a way that you dont have to have read it to understand the events.

Naruto was banished from konoha for failing a mission. He was supposed to bring back Sasuke when Sasuke first left for Orochimaru but he failed and the elders took this chance to get rid of him. They have always thought themselves as better and he a demon. When he left he didn't know where to go until the Akatsuki came along and offered him a place to stay. Naruto was skeptical at first but then he realized things aren't always s they seem. He stayed but not long after he found romance and got pregnant with kids. They're not just anyones kids he was pregnant with but Itachi Uchiha's kids. 12 years later Konoha has seeked him out. They want him back but Itachi isn't so willing to let him go back to the place where he was treated like trash. Not with his children anyway.
