Meg was glad to be back in the Outer Banks. Chicago was full of too much painful disruption and too many bad memories. And for someone who hates change of any kind, she was relieved to come back to her hometown in the OBX. Back to the Cut, back to the Pogues, and back to living the simple life. But this summer would not turn out to be as simple as she expected. All because of one doomed-to-fail treasure hunt, one figure from a past she'd rather leave behind, and one certain blond-haired surfer that she can't seem to unravel her feelings for.

It's been two months. Two months since the Pogues' world had splintered apart. John B and Sarah were presumed to be dead and as for Pope, Kiara, JJ, and Meg? Well, they weren't faring much better. But school was starting soon and they were forced to carry on in spite of their whirlwind summer vacation. But Meg should had known that things wouldn't be that black-and-white. Things in her life very rarely were. And all it took was one text message from an unknown number in the Bahamas to send her headfirst into another wild goose chase. Little did she know, this one would be even crazier and strain the limits of her relationships even more than the last. Welcome to the Outer Banks, paradise on earth.
