A quick angsty short story, it may not be perfect but I wanted to see how people would like it.
This was inspired by a story me and a friend wrote a long time ago. For context, the story was basically our take on The Little Mermaid, but genderswapped. A merman named Dorian saves a princess named Sophie from a shipwreck and intends to escape the ocean and his screwed up family by marrying her and obtaining an immortal soul. He commissions his friend Talia to make him a potion to turn him human, and if he fails to marry her with two years, he'll dissolve into foam and die. But Sophie is already betrothed to a prince and is marrying him in order to keep their kingdoms at peace with each other. So yeah. Lotta angst potential 👌

A Mermaid for the Lonely
A mermaid named Sirène, whose job as a mermaid is to guide those who have died at sea to rest their souls and not be trapped. She typically finds sailors whose ships have sunk, and pirates and convoys alike. Her personality is one of seriousness, and she does not express herself by facial expressions very often. She does sung lovely tunes though, ones of the sea and winds, not ones meant to lure anyone to their doom. She seldom spends time with other merfolk and prefers to be on her own. She is however very curious of the various emotions humans possess and their intensity, since she does not feel these. One day, while Sirène was staying near Pointe de Pen Hir, a dangerous cliffside that plunges right into the ocean. Looking upwards by chance, she saw a human, a man, standing dangerously near the edge of the rocks. The wind blew harshly and she could only watch and wait as he toppled over the edge and feel towards the ocean. She saw no fight in him as he fell. ________________________________________________________________ This is a fantasy story with my mermaid OC that I started making back when I was in middle school. I've used her character to help me through tough times and I am revisiting her. I want to make sure I have a place to remember her story, and make it a happier one than before.Complete

The royal guards ambushed the princess and took her away to the witch's house near the ocean. The two white witches agreed to help the princess for her desperate plea to return to her home castle. And stop her brother for his act of disposing his only twin sibling. The two white witches told her to take a swim in the sea before leaving. Before Lucia tries to get out of the water, she was suddenly transformed into a mermaid by the two white witches. There are two ways to break the spell before her time is up by the next month. If Lucia gets a kiss by the merman, she'll be a mermaid for all eternity. If the princess gets a kiss from the prince on land, she will be human again. If not, she will be lost in the world of water.
