Arianna and her best friend Skyler lived fairly sheltered lives, almost completely unaware of the rest of the land of Muria. When they return to find their village in ruins and their people slaughtered or imprisoned, the two girls set off on an impossible journey. This venture brings them closer together, but also opens their eyes to the world outside of their village. Along the way, they encounter new allies and fearsome enemies; and as the story unfolds, they find that there are much bigger struggles occurring behind the scenes as a crazed lizard man threatens their world. During their months of travel, darkness begins to seep through the cracks and overtake their world. It's up to them and a rag-tag army of rebels to keep the world from crumbling.

Arianna Evenright was perfectly fine with being human.
