The house always smelt like ginger on saturday afternoons, it would always make Remi leave her room to the kitchen, curious of the delicacy her mother was cooking. They were gingerbread cookies ,freshly baked and ready to eat. Remi even got 'gingerbread girl' as her nickname but that didn't happen anymore, not when cookies start to crumble just like the ground beneath Remi's feet.
