Once every generation. The Lambrooke family is visited by a demon they great ancestor brought into this world. In order for the demon to live on in the human realm it must feed on the life or lives of the one that brought it into the Human realm. However the original summoner died a long time ago so in order to stay alive the demon must feed on their descendants.

People were both revered them and schemed against them. This led to the Witch Trials causing many of them to die and killing innocent women. Now, they go into hiding, keeping their presence hidden. The Witch Council made several rules after the fateful incident. Now, witch covens are smaller which make it easier for them to hide.
