What differences exist between a teacher who explains the syllabus and one who goes one step beyond the curricular content?

The diference is huge. The first would be a teacher-instructor, transmitter of knowledge. On the other hand, the second would be a teacher educator-educator of his students, also a transmitter of humanity.

Society has entrusted teachers with the education - in the broadest sense of the word - of the adults of tomorrow. Teachers cannot reduce this important task to a mere transmission of knowledge. To do so would be an impoverishment of what is really expected of a teacher.
