In everyone's life, there is always a moment that changes everything drastically. Maybe you meet the love of your life. Maybe you lose someone dear. Or you have the worst accident that changes everything. For Mark Drummond, a officer for the Chicago police department, that was the day he was shot. 6 years in the force, nothing prepares you for what happens on the day you are injured in the line of duty. Or worse. Mark not only was shot, he lost his leg and a large chunk in his arm. On top of it all, engaged to be married, fiance of 4 years, leaves him when he needs her the most. Despite being as strong as he is, Mark is alone, in the worst pain, and struggling to accommodate his new life. Everything seemed hopeless until he started physical therapy and meets the perky occupational therapist, Anya Jones. She brings a smile to everyone in a room. Not only smiles, but she starts stirring deep emotions in the dying heart inside Mark's chest. The longer he spends with her, the more he finds out how similar they actually are. Having suffered a horrible accident herself as a teenager that left her paralyzed, Anya broke the doubt every doctor told her. They all told her she would never walk again, told she would never be able to live a normal life. All except one. Old Doctor Philmyer, an occupational/physical therapist pushed her harder than anyone would even try to do. Determination and will drove her to prove every doctor wrong. 3 years after her accident, Anya was walking, even running again. Her body had healed itself in a miraculous turn of events. But scars remained. Scars on her back and scattered over her extremities turned men off from her. Still she continued on, becoming an OT and working under the doctor who helped her she changed the lives of many others like herself. That's when she meets Mark, who gives her the biggest challenge yet. A chance at love...but he's her patient. A big no-no in the medical world.
