...

Sports therapist, Julie Stevens, reconsiders her taste in men when a brooding, legendary MMA fighter walks into her small-town gym. The fighter needs a team to prepare him for the brutal, winner-takes-all Warlord tournament. Meeting him person, she learns that he's crass, difficult, and even hostile... But she can't turn him away, as this is the break that the gym needs.

Not only does she have to deal with the fact that Ryder was her celebrity crush for many years, but she also can't catch a break with the grumpy fighter. Every encounter seems to go wrong... and then, one day, it doesn't.

Ryder's walls peel back, piece by piece, until the complicated warrior reveals a man who loves hard, and unequivocally. But Julie signed a contract with the gym's main coach stating that she'll never cross that line. They both know it, but they can't stop throwing looks as strong as his punches. Will Julie risk losing the gym that she holds up in her brother's honor? What will she think when secrets are dragged out of Ryder's shadows that he'd much rather keep hidden?

...

Friendly for all readers who enjoy a steamy, tension filled romance with drops of humor. Knowledge and/or interest in MMA not required.

"I'm Charles Michael McAllister." "I'm Jane," Jane said, holding out her hand. Charles took it, but didn't let go when she expected him to, and she nearly fell onto the table. "I gave my full name, I believe it's only polite to reciprocate in kind?" he said with a little smirk. Jane huffed out a breath. "Jane Bennett Carroway," she said. He looked at Jane in surprise. "I'm sorry, but did you say 'Jane Bennett'?" "Yes, that's my name," she replied, as if it were completely normal. Charles flashed Jane a grin. "You must have very interesting parents," he remarked. He challenged her again later. "I guess you liked your food," he said, looking pointedly at her empty plate. "I guess you did, too, Charlie," Jane responded evenly, gesturing to his equally clean plate. "In fact, I want dessert." And she gave Charles an openly challenging look. Charles knew that the beautiful Camilla was the girl who'd won the contest, the girl he was supposed to be talking to. But he found his gaze drawn again and again to the tall, thin girl, with the wispy blonde hair, huge appetite, and beautiful eyes, eyes that held a glimmer of attitude. He couldn't even remember the last time anyone had talked back to him. Interesting.

Featured on @Romance in the Young Love reading list. ❤️ Genre: Dark Romance/New Adult Unable to change her imperfectly plotted storyline, Michelle just couldn't when it was always the synonyms of the words that changed when she tried, but never the plot twists. The sadistic author like the clock hands, wrote fate with the strokes of the ticks, leaving no room for a change. And somehow, she was that book, tossed in a corner of a bookshelf, on which dust settled with time as a reminder of her unaccompanied presence. The frayed ends of the pages wore out from each time, a reader would come, and read whatever appealed to them, letting her go after the bad plotline of her first - past - chapters. That was where that bookmark stuck, somewhere midway between the chapters, mistaken as the end of the story. It paralysed her into a moment in time, with her unturned pages not letting her move on to the next, that was unless someone else did. And then he came. A reader who probably couldn't change the stroke of the pen of time, as much as she couldn't as a character in her story. But he didn't just read her either. From drawing stars on footnotes, and hearts as annotations on the margins, he highlighted and savoured her moments as if he didn't want to let go of them, just yet. He read and reread her over and over until he had memorised her enough. And somehow, she was someone's favourite book. The feelings of falling for each other happened to break into an artwork of mosaic in the end. But when broken puzzles finally fit each other, the formed picture doesn't always come off as expected. Disclaimer: This story contains mature themes and suicidal thoughts/actions, drug abuse, and mental disorders, that might be triggering for some readers, therefore reader discretion is advised.
