Simultaneously, a deadly virus starts to spread all about the world, attacking only the Altered -- every human over the age of sixteen. The virus eats at the modified human brain, and soon the Unaltered begin to realise that the Altered are losing their minds. Home is no longer safe. Friends and family turn on one another, losing control of their own minds and bodies. The Unaltered aren't safe. Even if the virus isn't attacking them, the ones with the virus are. Zaratorio: The Story Continues
'Zaratorio: The Story Continues' is a political parable dedicated in general to everyone who believes in #PeaceinUkraine and who says #NoToWar. More specifically, it is written in support of the brave and generous women and men of Medecins Sans Frontiers/Doctors Without Borders. As the title implies, there are several other Zaratorio tales on Wattpad. The current story begins with Professor Amber Jessop seeking to escape from 'the far future' - at least a googol of solar years beyond the present day. More generally, 'Zaratorio: The Story Continues' was originally set in Kyiv in 2021 CE, at various other points in Ukrainian history as well as in 'the far future'. However, the organisation led by Jessop, the Slavic Institute for Studying the Paranormal, has recently relocated to "KyivTwo": a semi-holographic entity outside the usual rules of time and space. I continue to support the medical charity, Médecins Sans Frontières, so you can copy and paste their donation page at the end of each part/chapter. There is usually one episode every week, but the serial was seriously in 2024 due to family illness followed by a bereavement. I have kept it alive by adding some chapter headings that did not occur in the original versions. Furthermore, I will try and add some very short chapters in 2025. The text of this story is entirely my own composition. The various illustrations are generally based on photographs that are in the public domain or from what appear to be long neglected websites. If any reader believes that I have violated their copyright, please feel free to contact me, although - given that my purpose is philanthropic (to encourage donations to MSF) - I hope that you will feel charitable towards me. However, from episode 58 onwards, some of the illustrations have been and will be my own AI creations!

Becoming Them: A Zombie Novel
What would you do if one second you were struggling to survive with your friends and mother in tow, and then you wake up to find yourself with a group of strangers the next - all during the country's takeover of blood-thirsty zeds? Megan couldn't believe her eyes. Her brain was muddled with confusion she couldn't get rid of, no matter how many times those strangers reassured her and explained what happened. But she had to accept it, even though it didn't make any sense to her. Megan had been with her mother every step of the way since everything turned to chaos, beginning just a year before, and now she was nowhere to be seen. And on top of that, she had the zeds to deal with. Ghastly creatures that used to be human, carrying a virus that's spread through a constant hunger for flesh from the host, spreading through bites and scratches. It didn't exactly make it easy to prevent getting infected. Things could have been worse, though, Megan thought. She could've been left all alone to ponder over her thoughts and fear over the future. It'll only be within the time spent with the new group will she find out that everything's not as happy and welcoming as it had seemed. These people had a few secrets of their own, including the real reason they took Megan in.
