The Red String of Fate is a well-known concept, the idea that a red string connects you to your soulmate. But what if instead of a string, it was a clock? What if you had a countdown to the exact moment that you would meet your soulmate? In the city of Valmont, everyone has a Counter, a countdown that can only be seen by you and your soulmate. They are not able to be changed or tampered with, a rule set when the Counters were first introduced. Lily has always known this and has excepted it. She has waited 18 years and still has a long way to go before she can meet her match. But when Lily's Counter starts to do the impossible, she can't just sit and wait.
