Elle never wanted to be a princess. Her whole life Elle aspired to be a witch. To many this would seem only natural as Elle was a witch's daughter. But when she was born, Elle's mother had a prophecy that she would one day marry Prince Ansel and become queen of Solstitium. And that was that. Elle was forbidden from then on to cook or clean or practice magic - anything that did not directly correlate to the skills of a queen.
When Prince Ansel throws a three-week long series of masquerade balls to find his bride, Elle knows she must discover a way to escape her prophesied fate - and fast. But when Elle's mother goes so far as to place a curse on Elle's best friend unless Elle goes through with marriage to Prince Ansel, Elle must find a way to defy her destiny while protecting those she loves.
