Dakota Baker was your average African American 15-year-old girl. That is, until she got accepted into Campbell.

The Campbell Institute was one of the most renowned high schools in Wyoming. Only the smartest and most talented were permitted to go there. Dakota didn't think much of it when she got waitlisted, but once she got accepted, everything changed.

She's thrown into an environment where racism and fetishization of cultures are normalized concepts. The lack of color in the school doesn't make things easier either. As a result, she finds herself wondering if she truly belongs at Campbell with the other prodigies.

However, as time passes by, Dakota manages to unite with the other POC's in her year: Josh Hall, Jin Wu, and Mia Rodriguez. Together, they face off the struggles of being a person of color.
