Ember is incredibly lonely and bored, so when she makes friends, plural, and is offered a adventure, she accepts. But who would guess that there would be trouble? That they'd run into a difficult child who is keeping a secret from them, or that they'd lose themselves in their anger at him, that there would be arguments or even that Ember would find herself a boyfriend?

❝uh, hey, I know you're older than me, doesn't give you the right to rob me.❞

❝I really only want you to be happy, and I'm trying to figure out how to do that...I love you..❞

And then in a nearby orphanage, when a pair of orphans are separated and Jack's demons come to light, will his new family still care for him, or will they get rid of him? And will he ever be able to get rid of his demons and fear of being abandoned?
